Festival Viktor Ullmann is the first music festival in the world dedicated to Concentrationary Music - composed by deportees in concentration camps and ghettos - and to Degenerate Music - music that was forbidden in Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy as it was considered decadent, dangerous and contrary to racial canons imposed by the two regimes.
Playing this music means reviving the memory and the creative genius of these composers. It is also a way to understand the Holocaust from a new point of view. ARTISTIC DIRECTOR Davide Casali ORGANIZATION DIRECTOR Luisa Franco HISTORICAL RESEARCH DIRECTOR Alessandro Carrieri |
